Last weekend I took a trip to London to meet up with Georgetown friends who are studying abroad there and elsewhere in Europe! Above: the houses of Parliament
We started off our sightseeing being the best tourists we could - staring up at Big Ben.
Westminster Abbey
St. James' Park (and a view of the London Eye)
In front of Buckingham Palace with Sarah and Katie B.
The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace
On the way to Trafalgar Square
We couldn't resist.
Lunch at the Borough Market
The better part of Saturday afternoon was spent wandering around the grounds and medieval buildings at the Tower of London.
The Tower Bridge
Encountering the exhibit with people dressed up as castle residents, it started feeling a little like the Maryland Renaissance Festival... except that the castle and British accents were real.
Did not realize how the composition of this photo would turn out when it was taken...
In front of the building that houses the crown jewels
Preserved carvings on the wall made by prisoners held in the "Bloody Tower"
With Mohamed in Chinatown
Chinese New Year: Year of the Rabbit (the only semi-logical explanation for this)
At Piccadilly Circus
Trafalgar Square
With Mohamed and Alex, at Regent's Park
Cutting through Chinatown again, we accidentally got caught amid an enormous Chinese New Year festival.
The British Museum
The Rosetta Stone
Ended a great weekend with an evening wandering around Covent Garden Market, and even caught some music.
