Last weekend I took a trip to London to meet up with Georgetown friends who are studying abroad there and elsewhere in Europe! Above: the houses of Parliament |
We started off our sightseeing being the best tourists we could - staring up at Big Ben. |
Westminster Abbey |
St. James' Park (and a view of the London Eye) |
In front of Buckingham Palace with Sarah and Katie B. |
The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace |
On the way to Trafalgar Square |
We couldn't resist. |
Lunch at the Borough Market |
The better part of Saturday afternoon was spent wandering around the grounds and medieval buildings at the Tower of London. |
The Tower Bridge |
Encountering the exhibit with people dressed up as castle residents, it started feeling a little like the Maryland Renaissance Festival... except that the castle and British accents were real. |
Did not realize how the composition of this photo would turn out when it was taken... |
In front of the building that houses the crown jewels |
Preserved carvings on the wall made by prisoners held in the "Bloody Tower" |
With Mohamed in Chinatown |
Chinese New Year: Year of the Rabbit (the only semi-logical explanation for this) |
At Piccadilly Circus |
Trafalgar Square |
With Mohamed and Alex, at Regent's Park |
Cutting through Chinatown again, we accidentally got caught amid an enormous Chinese New Year festival. |
The British Museum |
The Rosetta Stone |
Ended a great weekend with an evening wandering around Covent Garden Market, and even caught some music. |
